Structural Characteristics

Aluminium extrusion has been used for its strength and corrosive resistance. Nylon bushes insulate the different metals and provide hard wearing and long lasting bearings. They meet the requirements of the NZ Building Code B 1 when used in accordance with the recommendations of Joinery Developments Ltd.

Durability

Meets the requirements of the NZ Building Code for a period of 10 years when used in accordance with the recommendations of Joinery Developments Ltd.

Corrosion Resistance

Resists corrosion in normal environmental use. Aluminium parts are either etched and anodised natural or chromate conversion coated and powdercoat protected.

Installation Requirements

For exterior application stainless steel screws must be used. We recommend 10 gauge truncated screws which are available ex stock. In high load situations the top and bottom hinges should be placed as far apart as practical. The cavity between the door frame and hinge style must be kept clear of obstructions at all times. The hinges require a clearance between the frame and the panel of 4.5mm. The tapered hinge leaf design eliminates the need to relieve the hinging edge of the door panel. The Quick Fix Heavy Duty hinge must be used in conjunction with top hung door closers.

Performance Testing

The Quick Fix hinge has been tested for load carrying capacity by Material Testing Laboratory of Ellerslie, Auckland and the subsequent allowable door weights calculated by Abbott & Associated, Consulting Engineers of Mission Bay, Auckland.

Maintenance requirements

Occasional cleaning with water is recommended. Avoid the use of acidic, alkaline or abrasive cleaners. Avoid strong solvent type cleaners on powdercoated finish. If a solvent cleaner is required use methylated spirits or mineral turpentine. Ensure contact is minimal and thoroughly rinsed from the surface. Corrosive deposits such as salt or contaminates should be washed off regularly in the case of environmental contamination or immediately following severe accidental contamination. Cavities between the door frame and door panel must be kept clear of obstructions. Hinge pins should be checked for movement occasionally and reported to the supplier if excessive movement is noticed.
